Trolling

Posted by Michael Dale on Fri, 13 Aug 2004 4:45 PM

I'm sure we've all done it at some stage in our life. There have been quite a
few times where I would have turned into a "troll" as such. One example
was when msnplus decided to install spyware on my computer, since then I never
used that program. If you're going to provide a free "service" or "product"
then there should be no reason to fill it with crap. Oh oh please donate to me
because I'm poor and cannot continue programming without your support, bull crap.
Get a job. But anyway, back on to trolling. Now another good example of a troll
can be found here:
http://forums.dalegroup.net/viewtopic.php?t=523
Now sometimes there is good reason to troll (like my msn plus trolling, of course I'm right! ;)), but other times it can destroy communities. An example would be the "core forums". A discussion board that my school ran. It has over run by "trolls" and was shutdown.
But what about a website that is just about trolling. Two come to mind:
1) http://maddox.xmission.com/
2) http://www.wps.com.au/
Now maddox's site COULD be seen as one big joke, and I reckon that maddox probably thinks so too. But WPS is well funny and I think (I really can't tell) meant to be serious. Read some of their "news":
http://wps.com.au/news.html?newskey=463
http://wps.com.au/news.html?newskey=416
http://wps.com.au/news.html?newskey=439
Now this site is just a classic. I cannot get over how funny/lame/insane it is!
Let me know if you find any sites like that one!

*goes back to trolling*
