Multi user blogging.

Posted by Michael Dale on Tue, 14 Sep 2004 7:46 PM

Most (read almost all) blog sites that I've visited are all written by a single person. Now I know a blog (web log) is meant to be like an online dairy but I think that a web site where more than one person typed an entry on regular basis would be cool (not too many people like 5 max or something). They might response to what the others had blogged about, but have the option not too.

One good thing about blogs is that you can type any old random thing. Much of the stuff you write wouldn't be something you'd post on a forum. Blogs are somewhat more personal but still open to the public. Still I think multi user blogs are cool. Like the MS IE blog. But that is an organisation. I'm just thinking a group of people typing their thoughts but on a single site.

I don't know, maybe the reason why blogs are good is because they are mainly about that single person. Still I like the idea.

Thoughts?

Never. A blog should be ones personal thoughts, not multiple people.

In response to something written over at Dalegroup a few hours ago, a rant on multi-user blogging, and a proposition for consideration by many.

I agree with Dale, that this is a very interesting idea indeed. Most blogging tools support multiple use...

Maybe it would be a good idea. Except a site redesign would thankfully be required (not speaking of the database/php side).

^^ I didn't post the above message ;)

Currently this blog site supports multi users pretty nicely. :)

Dale,

Multi-user blogs are great, because they offer a much "deeper" perspective, and commentary. Whereas I like having complete control over how a "single-user" blog looks, and what is being said -- I really like the idea of a multi-user blog.
